Champery is a year-round working village, as such, visitors benefit from a fully equipped leisure centre which as well as the pool and ice rink offers a sauna, solarium and a state of the art fitness room.

Close by are the thermal baths of Val d’Illiez (5mins by car, 15 min by train). And Lavey LeBain at Lavey (35 mins by car). There is also paragliding, sledding, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing close by.

Directions to Lavey Le Bain

Lavey Le Bain is an fabulous outdoor spa and bathing experience – it’s like nothing we have in the UK and during a visit to the Portes Du Soleil it would be shame to miss it. It’s open everyday (from around 10-8pm, possibly later in peak season please check.) They welcome all guests with swim cosys as long as they are over 4 years old. There is a bar and a restaurant on site, and you can hire towels at Lavey.

Head back down the mountain towards Monthey. Rejoin the motorway towards St Maurice (the opposite way to Lausanne) and travel 1 junction. Come off at Junction 19 signposted Bex and Lavey. Follow signs for Lavey, at roundabout turn left towards Lavey cross the bridge. Take the next right continue and down this (seemingly going nowhere) road for approx 1.5 miles until you reach the Lavey Le Bain.

Summer in Champery

Summer time in these mountains is like looking at the same breathtaking picture only through rainbow tinted spectacles – the green pastureland of the hills, the blues, indigos, and reds of the flora and fauna, and the yellows and golds at sunset have to be seen to be believed. OK poetic bit over…

You are in total control of your holiday experience at Les Oursons, choose to laze by the outdoor pool in the village, or for the more adventurous, take the cable car up the mountain and follow one of the many cycle routes down.

If you prefer your activity to be on two legs rather than two wheels, there are literally dozens of walks to enjoy close by, visit the local tourist office just opposite the cable car station and pick up a free leaflet with many of the most popular local walks.
